Night Vision Goggles

Postby monkeywithagun on Wed Jan 02, 2008 4:39 pm

Well, the topic title pretty much says it - looking to sell my NV goggles, Im not keen on ebay but will use it willingly enough. They are not desperately modern but are still pretty effective, possibly not ideal for hunting animals but had some good times playing elaborate games of hide and seek ambush (all but one hide somewhere in the woods, or wherever, and then the one remaining person gets the goggles and has to find them without being ambushed). Its worth noting they are goggles, not monocular, and the right eyepiece can be tempremental. Sometimes it doesnt work but this doesnt appear to affect the visual range/sharpness. I would estimate its range at about... say 20-30m for seeing things clearly and then a wee bit fuzzy from then on - I would be looking for about £180 for them. They are nightowl opticals which is a well known brand, and anyone who knows a bit about electronics should be able to fix the right monocle. I havent dared to open it for fear of damaging it, but I see no reason to think it cant be fixed. They are powered by 2 AA batteries which seem to last a long time. They have a face mount (sounds cooler than it is), just leather padding which has straps attached to put round your head, it also has a carry bag. I believe they are second generation night optics, the military is currently using third generation scopes, and a few fourth generation goggles for pilots. Dont be expecting wonders from these, you aint gonna be piloting any helicopters at night with them, and driving would be a pretty fucking dumb idea too. Fun as a gadget-y toy though for immature pissing about with friends.

My first inclination was to tell you that you couldn't sell your goggles in the forum, but I've changed my mind. If you think you can, go for it. I'm going to move this to the "for sale" forum.
